Random thoughts 09-29-08

• The carton of milk expired today
• I wonder if this lethargy has anything to do with the fact that the Tribe are done??

These aren't really the type of random thoughts I wanted to address, but I thought I'd get them out of the way so I could get to the "useful" thoughts....

First off - Alexei Ramirez needs to eat a sandwich.  However, that does not negate his grand slam that forced the one game playoff between the Twins and Sox tomorrow night in Chicago.  I really don't care for either of these teams (for obvious reasons) - but because Ozzie just bugs me (choke anyone?),I'd like to see the Twins take this match.

The reality is I don't really see either of these teams going too far.  The Twins are a scrappy bunch, but I don't know that they have the depth to challenge a team like the Red Sox or the Angels.  Watching the White Sox play of late - I think they're alright 'til you get to the bullpen - then anything can happen.  Watching the Tribe this year, we know that scenario all too well...  However, we're looking at October, where all you have to do is get in the door.  You get the hot hand and you could take it all the way home...

Speaking of the Tribe, I can't help but wonder what the future will have in store for Travis Hafner.  I watch this guy play and I really want him to succeed, I find myself yearning for that sense I used to have when he stepped up that he could change the game and swing the momentum at any time.  That just isn't the way it is any more.  I get mad at him and yell and curse at the TV.  Who knows what it is?  Is it physical?  Is it mental?  Is it mechanical?  Travis - if you're reading this the entire city of Cleveland and Tribe fans everywhere want you back!!  No matter what we might say out of frustration we all have our fingers crossed that you'll come back in '09 able to produce like the good 'ol days.  We'd all like to see you as a threat again...

Who knows what '09 will bring?  All I know is that I'm already looking forward to it, and the regular season just ended yesterday....  I'll watch CC dominate for the Brewers, Casey manning the hot corner in Dodger blue and Byrdie slingin for the Red Sox and my brain will throw up in it's mouth a little bit...  if that's possible.
